Looking for potatoes? We know a thing or two about those.
Adoras: The Kroeker's specialty- these special potatoes are a low-carb, yellow potato with a very thin skin and fluffy, buttery texture, making them similar to a Yukon Gold potato. When storing any type of yellow potato, it is important to keep them in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, as they can easily turn green due to the transparency of their skin. These potatoes are best served mashed or in soups to best showcase their smooth, light texture.
#1 Reds: Our red #1 potatoes are a large red potato, typically of the Norland variety, with yellow flesh and are moist in texture. Since these potatoes have a thicker and darker skin than the yellows, they can store for up to 12 months as long as they are kept in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. These potatoes are best served baked, boiled, or roasted.
#2 Reds: "What's the difference between #1 and #2 potatoes?" This is one of our most commonly asked questions, and the answer is very simple; the size! Our #1 potatoes are larger, making them easier to peel, whereas the #2 potatoes are slightly smaller, typically of the Sangre variety, and are perfect for all the same usages as the #1's as the texture and flavor is virtually identical.
Yellows: Our yellow potatoes- typically of the Orchestra variety- have a very thin skin and are very dry in texture. The dryness of these potatoes makes them perfect for frying and roasting, as these potatoes will come out light and crispy.
Russets: The russet potato is a white- flesh potato with a thin, brown skin. These potatoes are very dry in texture, making them the best type of potato for French fries, and any other form of frying, as these will come out with a perfect golden crust. Please note: we do not carry these potatoes year round, only seasonally. Please check the website or call us to ask about availability.
Organics: Our organic Red and Yellow potatoes are sold seasonally, and are very similar in texture to our regular Red and Yellow potatoes, but are typically smaller in size. Please note that these potatoes are prone to sprouting, and may not store as long as regular potatoes.
