Propolis is made by honey bees which collect various resins from trees and flower buds. The honey bees use propolis to disinfect and to repair their hives. Propolis has been shown to have flavonoids and numerous other micronutrients. This highly studied bee product reportedly has strong antibiotic, antioxidant and anti-viral properties. People have used propolis for enhancing the immune system, to promote wound healing and various skin infections, and oral hygiene to fight cavity causing bacteria. Propolis is also increasingly being studied as a possible treatment for various cancers, tumors and HIV.
